Do you have a connection with Jesus? I am not asking have you tried to live a good life or joined a church. While those are good things, that is not what I am asking. Are you connected with Jesus Christ? The BEST way to know if you have a connection is by the way you answer this next question. If you were to die today, do you know that you would go to heaven? If you cannot answer this with a confident “yes” please read on. It is possible to have a connection with Jesus Christ by trusting Him as your personal Savior and say with all confidence, YES, I know I am going to heaven when I die. Some will say you can only HOPE to go to Heaven when you die, as if you must wait and see. I John 5:13 states, “These things have I written unto you, that believe on the name of the Son of God, so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life”. A lot of people have been led to believe that based on what they do … living a good life, attending church or even by giving money, they may somehow meet the requirements to go to heaven. But this is not what the Bible says. In fact, it states that heaven is a perfect place with no sin. So to go there I would need to be perfect, as perfect as God. BUT, I’m not and neither are you. No matter how hard we try, it will never happen. The very best we could be would still not be good enough for heaven. The Bible teaches us that all have sinned or done wrong. We come short of the perfection required to go to heaven. Romans 3:23 is very clear, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” It really doesn’t matter if we call it “no no’s, boo boos or mistakes,” the Bible calls it SIN. We have all sinned and sin must be paid for. Romans 6:23 says that “the wages of sin is death”, meaning separation from God for all eternity. If I should choose to pay for my own sin, it means I must spend all eternity separated from God, in a place called hell. But God does not want that! He does not want you or anyone else to spend eternity in hell, (I Tim 2:4). We are His very special created beings, and He loves us. In fact, He loves us just the way we are and He made a plan to demonstrate His love for us. He has positioned history in such a way, so that you may live in heaven with Him. The plan was to send someone else to take our place and pay the debt for sin. That is exactly what happened! God sent His son, Jesus, to live on this earth and die for us. Since Jesus was God in the flesh and had no sin of His own, He could literally take our place and die to pay for everything we had ever done wrong. You see, when He died on the cross he died for you. He paid for everything in your past, everything in your present and everything in your future. That is Good News !! Since He paid for all sin, we have no sin to pay for! On the third day, because He was God, He rose up, out of the grave to prove He had the power to pay for sin. The debt is paid completely, paid in full. To take advantage of this payment you must receive it. What does that mean? Believe. Believe that Jesus died for you and paid for your sin. Believe He will take you to heaven. John 1:12 states, if you believe or trust Him, He will forgive you and make you a child of God. One of the most quoted verses in the Bible, John 3:16 tells it this way, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God loves you and He gave His son to die for you. If you will believe it, you will not perish in hell. Instead, you will have everlasting life in heaven with God. He will save you. Will you do it now? Believe He died for you. Right now, right where you sit, talk to God and say something like this. God I know I’ve done things wrong, I have sinned. God I believe you sent Jesus to die for me and pay for my sin. God, I am trusting, you to take me to heaven. Please save me. If you do that, He will give you eternal life and you are now connected to Jesus. You will go to heaven. Not because I said so but based on the Bible, God’s Word. If you have just trusted Jesus as your Savior, congratulations! That is the most important decision and the best “connection” you can ever make. There are a couple of things I want you to do. First, talk to God again, but this time, say … Heavenly Father, thank you for saving me. Thank you for giving me eternal life. Second, tell someone. Tell a friend or a family member about the most important decision you have ever made. Will you also email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to let me know you made this decision? Third, I want you to find a good church and go tell the pastor. Just tell him you were on this site and you trusted Jesus as your Savior. This pastor will talk more to you and answer any questions you may have. He should also talk to you about how to grow in your new relationship with Jesus Christ. He will help you meet some new friends that will help you learn more about God. They should also tell you about being baptized to let everyone know you believe in Jesus Christ. |
